Lesson 2
For lesson two, we learned about fashion during early and late baroque. I also learn a lot of new vocabularies when it comes to fashion. Other than that, I learned how to be observant and look at every detail of a clothing. Every detail in a clothing is really important as a designer we need to precise and detail when we want to design a clothing so that other people will understand.
Summary Of Early Baroque
It is about how King Louis XIV change the life in France. During his rule, he laid down the rule of fashion and make France into a modern state. At the same time, he created a trend which is wearing a wig. As he is someone that is short in height. Therefore, wearing a wig is able to make him look taller. Concurrently, man clothing becomes beautiful as lace was used and it was excessively decorated with fabric. Therefore, men during a period are very stylish as they are dress lavishly.
Versailles is a place where the king moved his court and government. The court is filled with opera and people can visit the court if they are decently dressed.
Baroque style was an art movement which came in Italy in the early 1600 and soon spread to Europe. The architecture during the baroque period has curved forms and ornamentation.

Farthingale
Farthingale is worn under women's skirt to extend and shape them. It can be so long to the extent that they have to turn sideways when there's a door.
Stomacher
The stomacher is a v-shaped piece of decorative cloth, worn over the chest by men and women.
Ropa
Ropa is an outer gown or surcoat made either sleeveless with short puff sleeves or with long sleeves, puffed at the shoulder and tapered to the waist.
Mantua
Mantua is an outer dress to be worn with the mantua which was the Spanish farthingale. Basically,it is smaller in size.
Fontage
Fontage is originally only denominated a ribbon in the hair, then a certain looped ribbon on the top.
Ropa
Ropa is an outer gown or surcoat made either sleeveless with short puff sleeves or with long sleeves, puffed at the shoulder and tapered to the waist.
Mantua
Mantua is an outer dress to be worn with the mantua which was the Spanish farthingale. Basically,it is smaller in size.
